Art professionals, students called to design message for silver-bullet recycling bins

ecomaine, the regional waste-management company serving Cape Elizabeth, is calling professionals and students of all ages to design a recycling message for one of its silver-bullet recycling bins in its second annual "Recycling is a Work of Art" contest.

The winning designer or design team will receive up to $500 for supplies and the opportunity to put their message on one of the silver bullets. "It's a big canvas to get your recycling message across," said ecomaine communications director Shelley Dunn.

Cape Elizabeth Middle School's design was one of last year's inaugural contest winners - the design was painted on a silver bullet and is used throughout ecomaine's 43 communities.

Complete contest instructions, design forms and rules and regulations are available on the ecomaine website.

Deadline for submitting a design to Dunn, dunn@ecomaine.org, is March 30, 2012. As many as six winning designs will be chosen.
