The Town Council on Aug. 9, 2010 revised the council rules to allow public participation at workshop meetings.

The changes are consistent with the communications strategy adopted by the council in July.

The new rules extend the public comment period on agenda items currently allowed at council meetings to council workshops. Fifteen minutes will now be allotted at workshops for the public to speak on an agenda item, with a limit of three minutes per speaker. The council chair may allow additional time for comment to allow for all sides of an issue to be heard.

The rules for public comment will be published along with each meeting agenda beginning in August, 2010.
