Four to vie for two Town Council seats in Nov. 2 municipal election
Four candidates will vie for two seats on the Town Council in the municipal election Nov. 2, 2010.
At the nomination deadline Sept. 3, council incumbent Frank Governali, and challengers Caitlin R. Jordan, John W. McGinty and James R. Wagner, had returned petitions and had signatures verified. Their names will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot.
In the School Board election, where two seats will also be up for election, Kimberly J. Monaghan-Derrig will appear on the ballot.
All council and School Board terms are for three years. In addition, one five-year term on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees will be on the Nov. 2 ballot.
Incumbent Portland Water District Trustee John Brady, who represents both Cape Elizabeth and South Portland, returned petitions to the Cape Elizabeth clerk's office this week. Karen Morrill, assistant clerk in South Portland, said her office had verified his signatures there as well.
Seats that will be up for election on the Town Council are currently held by Governali and Penny Jordan; and on the School Board by Linda Winker and Rebecca Millett.
