Road and facility closures for Beach to Beach 10K on Aug. 7

The 13th Annual Beach to Beacon 10K will be held in Cape Elizabeth on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010. Participants will begin at the entrance of Crescent Beach State Park and follow the race route to Portland Head Light beginning at 8 a.m.

The Thomas Memorial Library will open at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the race, and the fitness center will be closed. The Donald L. Richards pool is closed on Saturdays during the summer.

Public safety officials have announced these road closures on the morning of Aug. 7, 2010:

Route 77, Sprague Hall to Kettle Cove Road ...6AM to 10AM

Crescent Beach State Park .....................7:30AM to 8:30 AM

Route 77, Kettle Cove Road to Old Ocean House Road ..........................................................7:30AM to 10AM

Old Ocean House Road (all) ......................7:30AM to 10AM

Route 77 @ Hillway..................................7:30AM to 10AM

Shore Road (all) from Key Bank to Fort Williams..................................................7:30AM to 11:00AM

Shore Road @ Post Office ...................7:30AM to 11:00 AM

All of Fowler Road (except shuttle buses)....7:15AM to 10AM

Scott Dyer Eastbound...............................7:15AM to 8:00AM

This year’s race beneficiary is Junior Achievement of Maine. Junior Achievement is dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
