National Honor Society hosts information evening on sustainable agriculture
The National Honor Society at Cape Elizabeth High School will hold an information evening on sustainable agriculture on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at the school cafeteria. Randy Morrison of Sustainable Harvest International will be discussing his recent trip to Nicaragua. SHI is a non-profit organization that provides education and support for sustainable agriculture initiatives in Central America as a means for ecological conservation.
Tables will be set up outside the school cafeteria with information from the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, Casco Bay Safe Lawns, Cultivating Community, Cape Farm Alliance and the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust. Flatbread Company will provide pizza.
Doors will open at the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and discussions with representatives from the various groups. Morrison will speak at 7 p.m., followed by a brief question and answer period. The event is free and open to the public.
Any donations are appreciated with all proceeds benefiting SHI.
