Students host panel discussion on
health-care reform

Cape Elizabeth High School's advanced-placement government class will host a panel discussion on health-care reform from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in the school's auditorium, 345 Ocean House Road.

Panelists include Andrea Maker, vice president of Martin's Point Healthcare; Chris Dugan, director of corporate communications for Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield; and, Andy Coburn, director of the Institute for Health Policy at the University of Southern Maine Muskie School of Public Service.

Members of the audience will have an opportunity to submit questions to the panel during the discussion. Questions will be collected by students, and select questions will be answered by the panel.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., the event will move to the school's cafeteria for refreshments and a more informal discussion of the issues.

"You will hear from these three experts who have key experience in the health care industry and meet them afterwards over coffee and some sweet treats," said High School government teacher Ted Jordan.

The class is planning to videotape the discussion for replay on CETV, public access Channel 3, or podcast on the school Web site.
