Cape voter turnout 80 percent for Nov. 4 election

Eighty percent of eligible voters turned out in one way or another to cast ballots in the November 4, 2008 general, referendum and muncipal election.

In a report for the Town Council, Town Clerk Debra Lane said that 6,400 voters, or 80 percent, cast ballots either by absentee ballot, or at the polls on Election Day.

Of all ballots cast, more than half were absentee. The total number of absentee ballots was 3,706, accounting for 58 percent of all ballots.
Here are some of the election statistics reported for Cape Elizabeth for the November election:

Voter Turnout -- 6400 Voters or 80%
Absentee Ballots Cast -- 3706 AV Ballots or 58%

There were 29 election clerks who assisted during the voting process between Oct. 1-Nov. 4, 2008, contributing more than 1,800 hours

Incoming Voter List - The incoming voter list is divided alphabetically into three segments. The final number of voters is almost evenly split:

G-M 2253
N-Z 2145
Total 6400 Voters
